Below are my top methods to drive traffic to my website - There are hundreds of ways but I have condensed those in order to give you some direction.
Method 1: SEO
This involves optimizing your website according to the keywords that you are promoting.
In order to rank well in the search engines it is imperative that you have your keywords in your meta tags, title, H1, H2 and evenly sprinkled in the body of your text.
Tip:Do not over do it, it must appear natural in your body text. Include also keywords that are related to your original keyword or keyphrase. For example, if you are writing about pasta, include words like spaghetti, carbohydrates, linguini etc.
Method 2: PPC
You can use advertising methods such as Google Adwords, or Yahoo Publisher or Miva in order to bid on certain keywords. If you bid is sufficient, your advertisement will appear when people type in that particular word or phrase.
Expense is an issue here if you are on a low budget.
Tip: Make sure that you perform sufficient keyword research previously in order to find the niches that cost less to advertise with, but will pull in an adequate amount of traffic.
Method 3: Article Writing
Write interesting and informative articles that are related to your website, and then submit them to sites such as ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com.
These articles, if focused on the correct keywords, will be picked up by the search engines and will therefore potentially drive traffic to your site. They certainly drive traffic to my site!
Tip: The crucial aspect here is to include your website in the biography section of the article so that there is a link pointing to your site. Make it sound appealing to click on the link as well.
This is your chance to 'make the sale' because on ezinearticles you can't force a sale within the body of the article itself.
Method 4: Link Exchanging - Reciprocal Linking
One of the most popular methods is exchanging links with other websites which are related to yours.
This is the method that I prefer the most when trying to attain traffic to my website because it is free, and also it builds up links pointing to your site which we know helps improve search engine rankings.
Tip: Make sure that you don't exchange links with any old site, it must be a site that is related to yours otherwise it may affect your rankings in a negative way
Method 5: Directories
Submit your site to as many directories as you can. This is because many people search directories to complement what they find in the search engines. Again, this is a great method which I use to drive traffic to my website.
Tip: Submit your site to dmoz.com - it is pretty much the most popular directory out there.
Method 6: Automate These Processes
Most of the these methods that I have discussed can all be automated through the use of software. It is imperative that you choose the correct software, because many simply do not live up to the required standard.
If you come across the perfect software, many of these processes can be automated, such as link building with related high page rank sites.
It is more than possible to exchange links with 100 sites per week and therefore drive massive amounts of traffic to your site.
