In the first section of our tutorials, we will learn how to work with the artistic filters that Photoshop provides. This tutorial will take you step by step through each example on how to get the most out of your photos.
1. Create a new document in any size. For this tutorial, my document will be 640x480 in size.
2. Fill your document with Black by going to edit -> fill with these settings:
Contents: Black
Blending Mode: Normal (100%)
3. Go to filter -> render -> lens flare...
1. File > New. Whatever size you want, and the background color should be white. I used 400px X 400px
2. Select the Linear Gradient Tool, and set the blending mode to "Difference" (and press 'D' to reset colors!), also make sure the Gradient is selected to 'Foreground to Background'...
Step 1: Create a new document (400x400) and fill it with black.
Step 2: Go to layer -> new -> layer from background.
Step 3: Go to filter -> render -> lens flare and with the default settings, position it in the top-left corner.
Step 4: Duplicate your layer (Ctrl+J) then go to edit...
This technique is extremely useful for creating layouts and other "tech" styles because it gives you a three dimensional "base" for your gauges, etc.
