Adobe Photoshop 7.0 produces amazing results, it is a tool used by everyone in the computer industry be it programmers, webmasters or people with a tastebud for creativity.
The great thing about photoshop is that it is a widely used program, and it can produce so many results. However the program is very hard to use, especially for a newbie, I would describe learning photoshop as learning how to drive a car. It can be very difficult the fast time you learn how to drive a car, but once you learn how to drive a car, your the master - you get to decide what you want to do, this is what photoshop does - it puts you in control!
The menus and tools are relatively easy to use and you can go with logic for the most part, there aren't too many eccentricities or oddities and after a couple of days getting familiar with the tools you'll be storming your way through even the most complex task.

Adobe Photoshop's price is however not very light on your wallet, it often costs over $400. But the price is definatly worth it, for the results are outstanding.
Adobe Photoshop makes Microsoft's Paint look like a complete joke, it definatly is the best in its competition. The results it produces can be very hard to rival, even Paintshop Pro cannot match Adobe.
There are thousands of filters and actions that can be found on the web and loaded into the Photoshop directories, these can be used to edit pictures, create new textures, infact there over a million things which can be produced with photoshop!
I use for photoshop all the time, whether it be optimising images (making them smaller in size, but same quality), making images for my sites, making layouts even MSN Smilies!
Adobe Photoshop is like a "dream" because it can produce so many results but the best part is that you are in full control. Photoshop is a great way to show your creativity.
My advice - If you have the money, then buy it!. If you dont have the money - then get the money and buy it!
