Color Palette

Step 1

I like to get my color palette/set from nature. Find a photo of the outdoors with colors you want on your design, graphic, etc. I chose a photo of a field of flowers.

Step 2

Now pick areas on your photo with good contrast in comparison to its surrounding colors. Pick a variety of colors. Try not to stick with just the same shades of colors like all yellow or all green. Try mixing it up by picking 3 dominant colors and 1 or 2 different shades of a similar color.

Step 3

Now use the Eye Dropper Tool and click within the selected areas of the photo. Doing this will pull the color values of the areas onto your foreground color box. For each color, make a selection with the tectangle marquee tool and fill it with that color. When you do that, move to the next color until you get all the colors. You know have a good color palette/set for your designs!
