Birds of Paradise


1. Find or open nice bird image. I used this: www.sxc.hu

2. Resize it if you want.

3. Open levels menu - > Ctrl+L, and press Auto, in this image we'll receive nice, blue effect.

4. Go to Image -> Adjustments -> Brightness / Contrast, set -20/20.

5. Image -> Adjustment -> Match Color, Settings:

6. Edit -> Fade Match Color, Settings:

7. Make a new layer, choose Brush Tool. Set Foreground Color to #eb8a2a

8. Reduce Opacity of brush to about 75%. Start brushing something like this:

9. Brush with other colors (On the same layer), example:

10. Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur, 25.

11. Set Layer Mode to Overlay. Nice colors so far :)

12. On the same layer, press Ctrl+U to open Hue / Saturation settings.

13. Mhm, better. Make a new layer, and brush the eye like this:

14. Change Layer Mode to Overlay.

15. Ok, once again make a new layer and brush legs like this:

16. Set Layer Mode to Overlay.

17. On the same layer erase unnecessary parts near legs.

18. Let's color beak now. Do the same as with legs or eye but this time use bright red color.

19. Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Hue / Saturation, Set Saturation to 25.

20. Select base layer and Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen.

21. Filter -> Render -> Lightning Effects:
