Cool Duotone Effect

So here's what we're gonna do:

Cool Duotone Effect Tutorial: Final Result

So start off using a pic of a night scene of a city, bright lights are recommended for better results, I'm using this pic:

Next select a part of the city u want, again bright lights make for a better effect:

Next, duplicate the layer, and on the lower layer apply a gaussian blur of about 4 to 6 pixels, I'm using five. set the blending mode for the top layer to color dodge and u have a pretty nice effect, lower the opacity if u need to but i didn't,and flatten the image:

Duplicate layer again and on the bottom layer apply a motion blur of about 60 to 80, next, set the opacity for the top layer to around 60 to 80%,then flatten the image:

Next, make a new layer on top of the top layer and whip out your polygonal lasso and make diagonal strips across the image and fill with black or any other colour, but different colours have different tones on the pic, be sure to make the black strips thinner so as to reveal more of the original colour, making it too wide spoils it,so if you are not happy just undo and make them thinner:

Next lower the opacity of the layer with the black strips to about 50 to 80,depends on what tone u want on it,i lowered mine to 75%:

image 7

Next, get your eraser and lower flow to about 20% and begin to erase out the lines bit by bit, and blend the 2 tones together, also go around the black strips so its like black blotches, and u should have this:

Finally, on the layer with the black strips, apply a stroke of 3 pixels in white with a linear burn blending mode, and u should have something like this:

Although u might not get something exactly like it,its all in the picture u select, bright lights are the key and i find black works well for filling the strips and white for the stroke, hope u enjoyed reading this and please leave comments, thanks
