Custom Cards


Note: This process will be different for each image, cutting out, resizing and most of the graphic will be the same. The steps in red will change depending on the image.

Step1: Setting up workspace.

Create a new image using the dimension Width 6.35 cm by Height 8.89 cm set the background color to white. First you need a stock image, any image will work, some image your will have to cut out and resize to fix into the workspace dimension. Here is the image I used, I found on the web,

Step2: Copying and Editing the image.

When you find a suitable image, Copy it and paste it into a new Photoshop document, this will give you more space to edit the image. With the image imported into Photoshop click Filter >   Extract, use the brush set at 20 pixels to trace around the image, as shown below.

Next click on the Paint Bucket and fill the image as shown below.

Click ok, to apply the setting.

If your image comes out perfect after this that is great, mine came out a little messed up but it can be fixed, use the Erase Brush.

Click on the Erase Tool image 5   using the settings below.

Erase the imperfections around the image to get the image below.

Press Ctrl and click on the image layer to select it, as shown below.

Press Ctrl+C to copy it and Ctrl+V to paste  it into the 6.35 cm by 8.89 cm workspace. To resize the image right click on the picture using the Chop Tool image 9 click Free Transform, to resize it until you are satisfied.

Step3: Adding Scenery behind an image

Now we will add a scenery behind the catcher, I found this image at Pixel Perfect Digital

Press Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste and paste the image into Photoshop. Make sure the image is under the picture of the catcher, this will give you the image below.

Step4: Adding Ground ( This only corresponds to this image)

Click on Filter >   Blur > Gaussian Blur and change the Radius to 1.7 Pixels. Click ok to ad the setting.

Create a new layer, Layer > New > Layer, click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool image 13select part of the image as shown below. We need to create something for him to stand on.

Click on the Brush tool, using this color (#d0a899) as the foreground, paint the selection as shown below.

Now if you have any brushes, create another layer set the brush color to dark brown (#856b61) and brush the selection to get the effect below.

Step5: Adding Logos

Next add the logos, to give it a more realistic look.

Right click on the image copy it and Ctrl+V to paste  it into the workspace. To resize the image right click on the picture using the Chop Tool image 9 click Free Transform, to resize it. I placed the logo in the upper right hand side of my image.

Here is the Yankees logo.

Same as in the above step, copy, paste and re position the logo.

Create a new layer, Layer > New > Layer, click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool image 13 , select part of the image as shown below.

Fill the selection using the Paint Bucket image 24 with this color #165aa5. Also write the player name and position.
