Focus Control


Create a depth map using a lens blur to add an air of mystery to your photos.

1. Open you image, I will use this one.

2. On your layers palette click the "channels" tab.

3. Create a new channel.

4. Keeping the new channel active turn on the topmost channel should be "RGB" by clicking the eyeball icon.

5. Grab your brush tool and with a decent size soft edge brush and opacity set at 50%.

Using white as the color, paint over the area you want to keep, in this case I want to keep the face of the woman so I paint over the face.

6. Go back to the layers tab, and duplicate the layer

7. Filter > Blur > Lens Blur.

You can adjust the radius setting to you liking. Adjusting the "radius" will blur the entire image.

Now go back to the "channels tab" and turn off the channel that you made in step 3. That's it. You should have ended up with something like this.
