Now we are going to create a Wood texture for sepia photos, it's a really cool effect for any sepia photo.
So you need any sepia photo taked by yourself or from the internet.
Step 1:
Choose the photo that you want to apply the wood effect, you are going to get a nice rustic-natural tone for it.
Right click on the Background layer - Duplicate Layer, and name the duplicated layer FIBERS.
Step 2:
Now, we are going to select the colors for the effect, for the Background we are using a wood-brown color (#7E6147), and for the Foreground a nice light brown (#F3E2D3).
Filter time! select your FIBERS layer and go to Filter - Render - Fibers, now you can change the values as you wish, we are using 18.0 for the Variance and 10.0 for the Strength, your photo is going to look like this now.
Step 3:
Go to the Blending Mode menu of the FIBERS layer and choose Linear Burn. Now the picture would look way better.
Step 4:
We are looking for a realistic effect, so we are going to tweak a little the saturation of the image, in the BACKGROUND layer go to, Image - Adjustments - Hue / Saturation, and put -40 on the saturation value.
Basically the effect is done; probably your photo is darker or lighter that the one we have, so we are going to play a little with the curves on the Background layer to get the ideal color.
Step 5:
Go to Adjustments - Curves and modify a little the values, in our particular case we raise a little the curve, so our photo now looks a little lighter. It's up to you the final color.
Done! You can always play with the Curves and the Hue / Saturation values to get the exact color that you want.
