Water Drops

Today we'll learn how to make some realistic water drop in few steps.

Open an image with a leaf or a flower, I've used this one:

image 1

Now go on "Select - Color range" and in the windows that will appear select the "Add to sample tool" and select all the color of the leaf.

image 2

Hit ok.

Copy this selection (Edit copy), create a new layer and paste.

Now with the selection still active, go on the "Channel" panel and create a new Alpha channel (hit )

Go on "Noise - Add noise" and set an Amount of 400% Gaussian Monochromatic.

With the eraser toll delete all is out of the leaf

image 5

Now go on: "Blur - Gaussian blur" and set a radius of 7, then go on "Image - Adjustment - Threshold" and set a level of 117.

Repeat this 2 steps setting 4 for the gaussian blur and 120 for threshold.

Finally set a 2° radius "Gaussian Blur".

Now go on "Image - Adjustment - Levels" and move the left and the right cursor to the center.

image 6

Ctrl+click on the alpha layer to select it and go back to the layer panel, create a new layer and fill the selection with white, setting the opacity level to 30% and the layer style on "Soft Light"

Now open the blending option panels and set:

Well, our drops are finished but I want to add a little important particular: the distortion made by the water under the drops.

So, while the drop still select, go on the level with the leaf (the second level), and then on "Filter - Liquify".

Set a 30px sized brush and with the first tool

go on the bottom of every drop and move the pointer to down.
