I am going to show how to make a modern picture to look like old!

Here are the before and after images, pretty cool, huh?

image 2

Ctrl+Click your picture layer (to get the selection). Create another layer, name it(double click) to "Effect". Fill it with color: #B8973D

image 3

Change this layer mode(on the layers tab) to color.

The main trick now, still on the Effect's layer, go to Filter > Add noise. Use the settings of the picture below.

image 7

Now go to Layer > Flatten image. Select your image and press ctrl+c. Go to your history tab, erase the Flatten image part. After this, create a new layer and press ctrl+V. You have now everything in one layer.

Looks good! Now let's add some lightning to the layer. Go to Filter > Render > Lightning Effects.

image 8

The good thing about lightning it, is because it makes the picture looks like it was scanned from an old book of pictures or something like that.

image 9

Now select a very rusty brush. And with the eraser tool start erasing the pictures border. It's better to use different brushes to do it, so it looks less uniform and more rusty(Of course this part of erasing the borders is optional).

After all this, that is how your picture is looking. This lightning effect is an amazing trick for make good-looking old pictures.
